Hi all.
Would anyone have any idea of how much we should expect to pay to have a new steering rack put into a car?
Its a Skoda Octavia , 2003 , 1.9 , diesel.
It was leaking fluid and taken to a mechanic this morning who says that it needs a new rack and i want to check his estimate.
Thanks

Yeah I know the cost of the rack (its actually £208) but what im trying to find out is how long (as in how many hours labour) it takes to fit it.The loopy one has gone :j0 -
Depends on how easy everything comes undone. If its a real !!!!!! of a job and you also end up burning off the track rod ends, it could run to a couple of hours.0

I did a Peugeot one the other day. About 4 hours, absolute pig to do!0

I don't know the car, or if the rack comes out easily, but up to two or three hours, including tracking it all back up.0

2 or 3 hours which can easily become 5 or 10.
Had my front springs done, OS took 35 minutes. NS took almost 4 hours. They had to heat the suspension
bolts and keep on cooling them to avoid snapping them. Luckily my sis lives around the corner so i could get
the new bolts otherwise they would have had to keep the car overnight waiting for parts to be delivered.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
