How to remove a fitted fridge door?

Sorry the title is a little confusing. Our integral fridge recently died. We'd like to get the kitchen cupboard door off the front of it in order to use it again either on a new fridge or to use as a cupboard door, depending on what we use the space for.
It's attached to the front of the fridge by some kind of nut and bolt system but we don't have a spanner thin enough to get between the fridge and cupboard door. Do we need to go out and buy a specialised tool to do this or is there a simpler and cheaper way?
