Expressing at work?

Back to work full time on Tuesday - eeeek!!!
Still breastfeeding my son at night times and during the night and wondered if anyone had any experience of breastfeeding at work?
I still produce quite vast amounts of milk during the day because I still breastfeed at weekends (would it be better if I stopped this?) so can you recommend any really good breast pads to save my embarrassment? xxx

With DS1 I used to go home to feed - I'd get a call on my mobile to let me know when he wanted feeding, I'd eat while he was feeding then return to work. Luckily I had a very flexible employer (or rather they couldn't afford for me to leave cos I was the only one who knew how everything worked LOL)
I used Lilypadz with DS2, brilliant once you get past the 'melon' stage.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

When I went back to work dd still breastfed at night too. Fortunately my boobs adjusted so no accidents.
If you need to express during working hrs I believe the employer has to give you extra breaks, a room and a fridge to store the milk.
Best thing is to talk to employer to sort something. I found the Tommee Tippee breastpads the best, a bit expensive but worth it.:hello:0 -
My question would be....are you ready to stop? If not, then keep going. Do you leak now during the day? I agree with the Tommee Tippee ones, they are really good.
I've got the lilypadz for this next baby and hopefully they work.0 -

They're not good while you still get engorged the milk forcing it's way out makes them detach, but they're wonderful once everything's settled even if you do leak a bit with ordinary pads.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Don't stop the weekend feeds if you don't want to......
I returned to work when my DD was 12mths, she's now 17mths still breast feeding morning and evening/nighttime on the days I'm working, and abit ad lib on the other days including the weekend when she demands it when grumpy or tired for her nap..... (I'm sure the nursery nurses and my mum don't have to resort to this measure!!!! LOL).
Although I reduced the number of feeds down to morning and night just before I went back to work, we seem to have gotten into the above routine.... with no problems re: leaking or her getting too upset at all, my body just seems to contend with it.
I wasn't leaking that much anyway at 12 mths, and now merrily go off to work without any 'protection'. I b/f my DS until he was 13mths and one day he just refused, I was then working full time and he was only getting it morning and night..... I've often wondered whether my more hectic/stressful life didn't sit well with milk production and he got fed up not having me for as long as he wanted (LOL).
I used boots disposal ones big box, with no probs.

Nuby do some slim extra absorbant ones, and TT are good too. I leak a lot, so I'm now wearing a washable pad and a disposable pad too.
Express at work if you need to. Work is supposed to provide a fridge and somewhere for you to go. You can take a lock n lock box with milton, water and your bottles etc in it to make sure it's sterilised. If having different experiences, thoughts and ideas to you, or having an opinion that you don't understand, makes me a troll, then I am proud to be a 100% crying, talking, sleeping, walking, living Troll. :hello:0 -
You might find you get a little full and want to express.
If you don't want to keep it, then I would say ask for access to a meeting room at set times of the day and express off and then clean up.
If you do want o keep the milk, then make sure you take in all the sterile items with you, and check with work over the storage facilities.
Just be very matter of fact and don't make a big thing of it.
It is possible for your little one to be brought into work for a feed if you want to carry on feeding in the day.

Well first day back at work and I'm leaking like crazy. Having to change pads every few hours. Feeling very engorged but hoping that it will ease off soon
Thanks for all the advice x 0
