Replacing Combi Boiler Help Required

We have just moved into a Three Bedroom, 1 Bathroom Semi-Detached House and are experiencing problems with our Worcester Bosch Highflow 400 Combi Boiler. BG have replaced several parts including the flow switch and control panel, but unfortunely they have explained it needs replacing as it's now over 12 years old and has been discontuined.

Therefore we need your help in replacing it, we have no idea what boiler to get and of course it comes down to budget, we've managed to put by £1500 in case of emergencies and this is one!! BG did say this boiler was too big for our property and couldn't understand why the previous owners installed this big free standing boiler. We do have space for a wall one, so that is also a possibility!

We now have no hot water or heating, so it needs replacing pronto. Any help would be gratefully received!

The Worcester Highflow is a good quality boiler. At 12 yrs old it is unlikely to need replacing. Obviously I'm unable to see it to make any kind of accurate judgement but I'd be very suprised if you can't get the part you need for it.
Get back to BG tell them you can't afford to replace it and I'm pretty sure they will repair it for you. After all, that's what you're paying for surely?

we got a vailliant 28 installed in a combi for combi swap by some guys i saw on ebay. Think they were called perkins and based out of portsmouth. Were excellent and cost £1400 all in. Think they do most of southern UK. Was done a couple of months ago came with a new wireless thermostat for free and has a 5 year warranty from manufacturer.

Very pleased with it. They arrived at about 8am and were done by 3pm. Included full install, powerflush, certs and everything.

There is a surprise BG say it needs replacing sales must be down this month, look in yellow pages for a Worcester Bosch approved service engineer, there should be no reason why a twelve year old boiler cannot be repaired, at least get a second opinion.

BG have been around several times and not recommended a powerflush? Clearly the engineer requires retraining...

Try calling Worcester out on a fixed price repair, although I'm not certain whether they offer this on boilers over 10 years old.

Your boiler may look big physically, but it is one of the lowest powered (output) boilers there is.

I would recommend an Atmos Multi if you chose to go down the replacement route.

PAH, BG. Says it all. Get someone in from the yellow pages, or ask around friends and family and ask for a recommendation from them for a good gas safe reg plumber who can come take a look. BG are rip off merchants for installs and maintainance. Great for energy supply but they overquoted for my new heating by approx £2500!!

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.
