  • In the worst case scenario, the company will refuse to give the £2300 back to you (as Cahoot did to my husband a couple of years back). He wrote to the Financial Ombudsman with all the details and also wrote a letter of complaint to the complaints dept of cahoot. Before we even got a reply from the financial ombudsman, cahoot had refunded the disputed money. So try not to worry, as long as you have not lost your wallet or given anyone access to your credit card, you are fully backed by the law and will get your money back, whether Halifax give it back easily or you have to write to the financial ombudsman.
