Morning All,
Glad to hear your visit went well HH, only six or seven weeks to go now until the big day, isn't it?
Bitsy hugs for you and DD, hope she picks up a bit today, make sure you are resting, the kitchen floor will still be there later - although Mr Hunky does have arms, you know
Lowesy hope you get some rest today, I think I may be almost as excited as you about this baby
I have a washing out on the whirlie, and one in the machine and my basket is empty :j DS2 has a party today so I need to sort that out, and go get a gift, they were out yesterday but I forgot to say to them to buy something for his wee friend. I will be attempting to do some more clearing out upstairs, I am really struggling with it, feeling completely overwhelmed actually! I also need to do a mealplan and some food shopping but the party is near Asda so I shall do it then.
Have a good day everyone, hopefully I can stay awake today (fell asleep last night at around 9 o'clock)
Hugs spoons and hi fives where needed
Jackie xxx
PS another month of pound coins to go in my Credit Union account too, thanks to the sistercas fundI actually have about £200 in it as I have been sticking the odd £20note in out of my purse too

Good Morning all I had a great day yesterday and spent it with my friend in Dartford. She ran my curtains up for the spare room on her machine and we had a nice day just jawing and knitting and sewing and being old ladies I suppose.I have known her for well over 40 years (she was my childminder when my children were small back in the early 1970s) and we can still find lots to jaw about. Her husband was working over the week-end so it gave her a bit of company as she isn't used to him working week-ends.She made a terrific spicy pork and bean chilli which we had for dinner, and it was delicious I am going to get her to send me the recipe. In the evening we watched Britains got Talent and both agreed the little boy at the end had a great voice .Very starnge chap with the underpants though and we decided he must have done it for a bet
Eldest DD is coming for coffee this morning so she will hang my curtains for me .Climbing ladders is not on the agenda any more I'm afraid as I don't 'bounce' very well if I fall off.Dinner at youngest DDs late this afternoon so I might make some fairy cakes to help supplement her cake tins ,her boys can make cake vanish quicker than Paul Daniels at times:)
Well May is here at last and hopefully no more cold weather. My brother is flying over for a visit this month from where he lives in France and I'm looking forward to seeing him.
I have a new lymphodema clinic opened in my area and have my first appointment on Thursday.Great as its at the local health centre better for me as I used to have a 60 mile round trip to Pembury for the clinic and now I can just walk across the road .Next month I have my yearly check up with my surgeon and will hopefully get my three year remission.Only two more to go then they can say I am cured,so well over half way which is good.June will be a busy month for me as I have a 'blue badge walk' around Greenwich with my Uni class on the 4th and on the 11th I am off to Ghent with DD for a day out with her school. It was cancelled earlier in the year because of the bad weather so I'm rather pleased that its been scheduled for June as weather wise it should be a lot warmer.Well time to put the coffee pot on as I could do with some caffeine to get my old bones moving this morning.Hope you all have a great day.weatherwise it looks really nice outside a perfect spring day without a cloud in the sky and the sun from my study window is gleaming on the River Medway, always a good sign first thing in the morning
Take care everyone

JackieO That's great news about the clinic. Every little bit helps! Enjoy time with your daughters and GC.
Bitsy Croup is awful. My dd2 had it a few times and it can be very distressing. I would stop it before it starts tonight. Run the bath or shower as hot as possible and sit with dd in the bathroom before she goes to bed. The other thing that works is to take the child out into the cold night air. A paediatrician told me that most children who are having a 'croup crisis' are fine by the time they get to A&E..... purely because the cold, damp night air acts to cure the croup. I have tried this, and it works!
Got up to the allotment for a few hours yesterday, and even though it still looks like a tip, at least it looks as if it is being worked on.
Just made the kids a strawberry and banana milkshake for breakfast. Nice and healthy treat. Milk, frozen banana, strawberries ( from a 2kg box for 2 pounds from asda which are starting to go off too quickly!).Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

DD2 seems to be going through the 'terrible 4's'!!!!!! I don't know what to do with her! If her sister so much as looks at her the wrong way, touches her, rubs her up the wrong way, or she doesn't get her own way with food, playing, whatever, she has a massive hissy fit! We ignore her, and it eventually stops, but it is doing my head in! She never used to do this, and I know she is partly copying a friend who has her parents completely manipulated.....ie, screams the place down at every opportunity and gets her own way.
Well, it ain't happening in my house. No way! I have tried the naughty step for 4 minutes, but it doesn't seem to bother her too much. I know she is a good kid compared to some, but she is behaving like a 2 yr old! Any ideas/ tips would be gratefully received.
i would have a chat with her. ask her if she thinks her friendsbehaviour is good and why not. make it clear that it isnt. also a reward system can work well. fcus more on the positive than the negatives.
ETA i dont mean a formal chat. just sit down with her while she playing etc"I have learnt that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one""You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”Maya Angelou0 -
Morning all
Bitsy hope little one is better soon. One of ours had croup and I remember boiling up the kettle.
Hester glad the visit went well.
Jackie O sounds like a lovely day.
Sistercas we had a cat who could do that-the back door was his speciality when it was unlocked.
Jackieglasgow-well done with the savings. We have started a £2 pot and I am amazed how quickly it mounts up.
Loulou feel better soon.
Well OH is back at the model railway exhibition for the morning and I am having a coffee at the computer in the kitchen/diner. I cooked him breakfast and he washed up and legged it. Anyone else with an OH with a hobby and you get that "gotta go, gotta go" moment? Talk about a cat on hot bricks!
I got some whoopsied carrots at Mr S yesterday and will make some carrot and coriander soup with the limp coriander in the pot on the windowsill.
Tea is lamb shanks OS as two between the three of us and with whoopsied carrots.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all,
Another lovely day here, we had a good bit of rain in the night which was needed.
We had a lovely day yesterday, we had a long drive out into the countryside, through some beautful villages, stopped at a lovely country pub for lunch, bought some asparagus and took the dog for a walk through the woods. It was a perfect day, we were still full up last night, so just had a snack for tea.
Sold another £90 on Ebay last night :T, so will need to get that packed up and sent off on Tuesday. We are off th the boot sale at 11 to see if we can get any more bargains to sell,dd is off out with her dad.
I have mum and dad and sis and bil coming for a bbq early evening, I have some sausages, chicken and burgers, will do some stuffed mushrooms for the veggies, and some of the local asparagus, with garlic new potatoes and salad, they can all have an ice cream for pud, as I bought a box of 6 cornetto type ones for £1 yesterday
Need to hoover, and get OH to mow the lawn, and get the washing out, our bedding is in there atm.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning Troops
Yesterday we didn't get much done. I spent a lot of it in bed as I was just feeling uck! Have been tired and off all week but I think it is me still recovering from holiday. Due to my illness it takes a lot out of me as I do not do well in strange places.
We have got some of the pots we had out the front of the house through and out in the back garden. We've taken the bulbs out of them and put herbs and salad stuff in them and are going to put them along the fence. We will probably keep the 3 china pots out front as they are to heavy to lift through and plant them up with something. We were finding the oiks round here were pulling the flowers and leaves off the plants and the covern next door like to throw their ciggy butts in them. Need to get that finished and the rest of the garden tidied and sorted. The kitchen on the trailer tent needs sorting. The front of the house needs brushing up. We need to pull the weeds up in the back garden and lay a cover over the area where we should have grass but have mud because it gets no sun. I am saving to put some chippings down.
Will carry on with the washing mountain today and the DW will need to be emptied and filled.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -

DH is pottering which means he is bored so I am off to find him some things to do

Good Morning... (just)
Hope you are all doing ok and that you get a rest today Bitsey. Another whose child had croup as a babe (only DS1) and second sitting in the bathroom or over a steaming bowl of water.
My house is a mess and its getting to me:eek::eek::eek: My cleaner has been off for quite a few days what with her holiday, birthday and bank holidays. Really struggling even though youngster helps me with the heavy jobs. I asked DD to do bins today and she asked me WHY? I said as repayment for driving her to a party last night? Oh I could have stamped on her toes but instead just let it drop. She was hungover. Im ignoring her now which she hates:cool::cool::cool:
Im supervising cooking some puddings as I have a surfeit of eggs. Pineapple upside down, Eves, fairy cakes, proper custard and meringue. That leaves me with 9 eggs left so much more manageable. Washing on, ironing being done by Kids Dad. Just need to declutter and get floors cleaned and bit of dusting done.
Hugs xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
