They scare you into buying, they probably made the OP feel like they'd be driving a dangerous car if they didn't have the work done and if you have kids, you'd be even more susceptible to this.
These scare tactics are how they sucker people in!!
Like I said, if the OP is daft enough to pay without checking other competitors pricing first then more fool him/her.
The garage have expressed that in their opinion, the things mentioned needed doing, it was then up to the OP to decide whether to shop around or just get it done
OP chose to just get it done, garage is not at fault here.
Should have queried prices when quoted, not paid and moaned about it afterwards !!!0 -
And lets just remind ourselves that tyre centres and garages are here to make money for themselves.
If customers due not exercise due caution then I am sorry, but more fool them.0 -
it's not only the tyre chains that try it on,
Some years ago I had a xsara picasso, when the Citroen Dealer serviced it I was told I needed new front pads and quoted several hundred pounds to replace pads alone.
So I took it to Kwik Fit who fitted new pads for half the price quoted by the dealer. I asked for the old pads back and discovered they were only half worn.
Lesson learned.
Next car was a Pug 406 , Pug dealer told me I needed new pads on a service so carried on and a few weeks later pad warning light came on.
Moral find a garage you can trust!0 -

Sorry, but the onus here is on the customer to ensure they are satisfied that they are getting the goods they wanted at a price that they deem acceptable.
To not ask the price at the time and to then subsequently do an internet price check is a recipe for trouble.0 -

I know it's not a total excuse but Kwikfit give a lifetime warranty on pads and discs as long as you own the car. In other words you will never have to pay for these discs and pads again.
Fast moving parts like pads and discs/exhausts/oil filters etc have always been massive mark up items. National tyres will be getting at least 40% discount off the retail unipart prices. I was in the trade for 20 plus years so I know what the profit margins are.
Oil /Air filters 70%
Exhausts 60%
Brake pads/discs/clutches as much as 40%
I can understand why you are angry0 -
trouble is garages dont fix your car for the cheapest amount , theyre out to make as much profit as they can
all places make a good profit on parts , possibly more than the labour they sell
maybe get a haynes manual and diy it next time , i do my very best to never step foot in a garage and save alot doing my own jobs , or ask around there might a local enthusiast that would do jobs like that for a few beers0
