Thanks Mum, feeling much brighter today (funny as the sun is shining - there is a lot to be said about that SAD thingy!).
The caravan would be a lovely luxury but being realistic it adds to every month's outgoings with storage and insurance and eventually it will just depreciate so it isn't really viable to keep the debts at 26k when they could be only 20k
(I love the way I say ONLY 20k  ).
I think treating myself with cake sounds like a very good idea :T
I think the worst thing of being in this debt situation is the thinking that, if I hadn't got the debts, my inheritance, share money, bonuses and the caravan money would all be money that we could spend on really good things, holidays as a family to wonderful places, paying the mortgage off or extending the house (or having central heating installed) and it makes me cross with myself for my stupidity
But the sun is shining, hopefully the caravan place will be busy with people wanting to spend their ill earned gains
Just keep swimming!0 -
Hi itsa, Wow to DH's £200 extra, thats fab!!!
Hope your feeling a bit brighter later on, get out and get some fresh air and you might feel better. We all have down days (hugs) xxMummytogirls x0 -
You've done brilliantly with the debt repayments, what annoys me is the interest that goes back on, I know its life, but thats not the point!
Its not stupidity, its the way the economic situaution has left us in, and sometimes circumstances beyond our control. my debts spiralled over last 10 yrs, I could have knucked down a bit before, but I guess i always thought I was just managing.
For me, when I was found out was expecting DD (back in 2002), I was 30, single till I met him, enjoying 2 foreign holidays a yr, had credit cards and a loan, but was managing, take home of 1k a month, met my ex, in Nov 2001, then in Jan the little line went blue, course I planned to work upto 34 weeks, then 9/10 wages etc etc.... within 7 days of being confirmed I'm signed off work sick, never went back, after 1st month company sick pay then went to ssp which at the time was £240 pm....... There started the spiral.
Over the yrs when dug myself half way out, something else happened, in 10 yrs I have had the grand sum of £60.00 in cse payments.......
Did the consolodation loan twice, and only now when hit rock bottom, my rear bounced that hard that it has stuck there, that now finally getting somewhere, but I know its going to ba a long journey.
Plz remember that circumstances happen, and now your working your dammed hardest to get sorted, sounds like you have a lovely family, and a BIG YES to that CREAM CAKE... xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

Oops I missed your birthday !!
So sending belated cake and beer / or wine !:bdaycake:
So sorry to hear you have been feeling down, but I hope that your birthday meal and the sunshine are cheering you up a little.
Just a thought ,if you are down about selling the caravan, which I totally understand , could / would you consider camping as a compromise ? Not quite the luxury I know, but its cheap, a tent won't cost too much, you probably have some of the gear you need already and at least you can still get a break. Just a thought, I know some people detest it and have horrible childhood memories of it.
We all absolutely love camping and find it so relaxing just sitting in a field with a lovely fire going,a lovely curry cooking over the fire, playing games and pretending we have no worries or cares in the world. Something to be said for lying back with a Pinot in hand gazing at the stars on a clear night ! Maybe its something to think about ? xLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !
