Heavy handed bank

My wife got into difficulty with her LloydsTSB Credit Card and reached an agreement for a reduced payment, this was always paid on time. Following the review period the bank contacted my wife for an update on her financial situation and she stated that she could pay more per month. The bank went through her incomings and outgoings and stated that she could only afford to pay an extra £1 per month which she has done, once again always on time. Two weeks ago we noticed that nearly £1,000 had been removed from our account without our knowledge, this money was intended to pay monthly bills. Upon contacting the bank they agreed that a mistake had been made and promised to refund the money, which they did although it took 10 days whereas it only took one day to take it!

This morning my wife received a letter from a debt collection agency demanding full payment. The bank have confirmed that they have passed over the account but could not say why but they did threaten to take my wife's debit card away to ensure payment, even though they stated that all furure payments should be made to the debt collection agency although they themselves are at a loss to why my wife has been contacted.

Can the bank do this and has anybody else had experience of this heavy handedness by Lloyds?

i agree with above only bcos Lloyds are crap at dealin with customer complaints and just file them away with all the junk

Move to a better more respectable bank (not Santander or any other Lloyds owned bank)

This is probably just ANOTHER case of different departments dealing with you on a different basis within the same organisation.

I'll bet a LOT of the posters on here will have experienced it. I changed from one energy supplier to another awhile ago, and I'm still getting mail from the first one.
There seems to be no interaction between the different departments, so you might as well be three different customers.
