provisionally accepted for barclaycard

I received a letter from barclaycard to say that my application has been provisionally accepted. There is very little information in the letter, the rest of it is asking for ID and address confirmation.

Does this mean I have been provisionally accepted for the card of my choice when i applied or is it any other that they pick - ie, is this a consolation prize?

What generally happens is that you send them the ID back, and they write back to you informing you that you haven't met their "fraud criteria" and that you wont be getting a card. A really nasty letter to receive, but there are countless threads about it happening, on this site alone.
