Car Hire Vegas - San Francisco

We need to book a car for October but we seem to be having trouble getting prices. We've tried dollar, alamo and a couple of others. Do they release prices nearer to the time?

you should be able to rent now for October.

we normally go through carhire3000...some do have one-way fees between CA and NV but CH3000 will advise you of this before taking payment - and will give you prices for alternate agencies who will not charge a one-way fee so you can swap if you want.

Tried those, along with just about every other company and nothing, it just doesnt seem right that they have no cars?

if you continue to come up with no cars then I would guess that something you are entering is knocking you back...what that would be I don't know - what pickup and drop of locations are you using?

Only other thing I can think is the combinations you have tried, there have not been desks for the same rental agency so they show no cars available...maybe?

We wanted to pick up from vegas (any hotel) as we didnt want to make a trip back to the airport. Dropping off SF O'farrell street.

Dollar is now showing cars available but only from Vegas Airport.

you don't actually pick up from the airport in Vegas - you pick up from a rental car facility separate to the airport - though the location is referred to as the airport it really isn't - but I see what you mean.

It must have something to do with ownership of the various locations - think that some are franchised/under separte ownership though all under the same umbrella...or maybe some locations are really just sold out for your dates?

Playing around on CH3000- you can pick up at Treasure Island and drop off at O'Farrell Street...since TI has a Dollar desk, my guess is that the rental would be with Dollar.

So may be worth playing around with the different hotels to see what you could get.

Have to admit I did put airport to airport for pick up and drop off.

As Ferf says the LAS rental desks are not actually in the airport and are easily accesible but to me the biggest plus is that at the airport location you will have a wide choice of cars, there wont be much choice (if any) at a hotel pick up

A couple of times I've had nothing come up on the Internet with carhire3000 but have phoned and they have been able to sort something, so I suggest you give them a call.
Make sure to get it in writing that there is no one-way fee. They were happy to do that for us.

We rented last year with Dollar - picked up at O'Farrell street and dropped off at the MGM in Vegas. One thing to think of is you they work normal office hours at the hotel pick ups, so avoid before 9 and after 5 and between 12 & 1 for lunch. I just had a look on the website and it gives me quotes for collect citywide in vegas, I'm not sure exactly where that includes though. I believe with hotel collections you're limited to what's been dropped off with them recently.
