Day Trip to France

We were thinking of taking our kids to France for the day and were looking to take the Ferry and also need 2 nights accommodation near to Folkestone as we are a good 3 hour drive away.

Any suggestions on deals on accommdoation or ferry trips or even cheap accommodation near Calais as this could be an option?

Used these motels all over France & Spain. Cheap & cheerful

Word of warning tho.....book in advance during busy times cos they get booked up real quick.
If the one in Calais is full try the one in Boulogne sur Mer its only 20 mins down the motorway & Boulogne is a nice town.

We are a 4hr drive to kent and have gone to France many times. We find it cheaper to stay o/night in France rather than England.

Hello :) I often do day trips to France :) Well not often, but quite a few of them as it's something I enjoy doing. I think I just like getting out the country for the day for a couple of reasons. Definetely book in advance, as I knew my date for ages beforehand, I booked 2 months in advance and paid £15 each way with po ferries, and as it got nearer the time, it went up and up, so definetely paid to book in advance, and naturally it's very MSE.

I know you mentioned Folkestone but as others have suggested France I put in my recommedation or where I've stayed in the past. I've stayed in Boulogne Sur Mer when I've stayed there in the past and I stayed in the Hotel Alexandra which was quite reasonable rates. I believe I paid extra for breakfast though.

I know in Folkestone there is a Britinnia hotels, someone we know stayed in one and they seemed happy with it (and the breakfasts), but I didn't really ask much more about it as I didn't really ask muchmore.
