I need to erect a dog proof fence between our garage and the main house - the problem is that this area is concreted over (up to 12" thick) - so am looking at chain link fencing and steel posts("L" cross section)
Has anyone had any experience of vertical "chain-drilling" the concrete to form slots for the posts to slot in ?
Any other suggestions welcome ......

Metposts might be an option. Not the dig in ones but the ones that sit on concrete. You dont say how big the gap is but I would probably go with something lig that.
Other option would be electric fencing similar to that used with sheep and horses. May well stretch from wall to wall without the need for groundworks.
option 3 may be using sleepers across the ground and chucking metposts onto that if you didnt want to go into concrete.0

there are various base plates that can be fixed to concrete. square section or round.
with four rawlbolt fixings, they are pretty secure.Get some gorm.0

The added problem is that the whole area (about 5 yards by 5 yards) is sloping gently - so if I used base plates - the posts would not be upright !!
My best bet is to somehow drill out the holes for steel posts ....0

You can add packing to level the baseplates!0

drill holes and use round posts ie scaffold poles or black iron or galv pipe.0

you would need a diamond core drill for that job.Get some gorm.0

I once chain-drilled 144 x 1" holes side by side in a concrete factory floor in order to dig out a 12ft long drainage slot to prevent water blowing under the door. It was my first acquaintance with a Hilti SDS drill. To say that I was impressed with it is a bit of an understatement. Brilliant bit of kit.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
