Ford Fusion wing mirror damage
Options
Morning all!
DH just went to the car and some 'kind soul' has hit the offside door mirror and broken the edge of the wing mirror assembly and slightly cracked the back of it.
The electric adjusting mechanism still works ok, so is it possible to just replace the casing or is it a case of getting the whole thing and replacing it?
I keep saying we will have to move (and get off street parking) as I'm fed up with cars being damaged like this!
Thanks in advance if anyone knows the answer!

You can buy the casings. Try your local dealer - they can be surprisingly cheap sometimes.0

That wasn't the case (!!) with my Mondeo, they couldn't get it in the car body colour either. The (company) insurance had to pay for a complete new mirror and to get it painted............
My current car (my own) has black mirrors !!0 -
it all boils down to the design of that particular mirror, some are assembled and meant to be a whole unit, so when damaged means it has to have a new mirror unit, some mirrors were assembled as many parts and thus the outer parts could have been entered as a single part available to purchase (not in all cases but most).
but i just done a search and it does infact look like you need tho whole unit as a casing isnt listed but mondeo 2000 -2003 is for £19.95 PRIMED £45.00 PAINTED DELIVERED.

Not sure what you need to get but might be worth trying a local scrapyard - ours have got me two wing mirrors over the years for different fords - if you let them see what you need next time they are out buying they will hunt around so might be worth asking. Last one cost me £20 and a mate fitted it.Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Thank you very much everyone for taking the time to reply!
I contacted my mechanic to see what he thought, he reckoned we might get away with the casing - until he saw the damage.
So he's ordering us a new unit and fitting it next week - typical that we are going away next Saturday and need it done by then - he's always booked up but will fit us in somewhere.
Many thanks once again!:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

Next time you park up, fold your mirrors in.
Some of the newer cars do this automatically when you lock the doors.
Yes, I know it's a pain when you go to drive off and you've forgotten to pull them out again, but it's cheaper than keep replacing the case or whole unit.C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z # 40 spanner supervisor. No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thought.Only after the last tree has been cut down.
