Does HSBC and First Direct share information?

Options
Hi,

Just wanted to know, if you are a First Direct customer, does your information get shared internally with HSBC?

Will being a First Direct customer give you advantages in applying for a HSBC Credit Card, Loan or Mortgage just like a HSBC customer - or no, a First Direct customer is considered an 'external' customer like any other bank customer as far as HSBC is concerned?

Thanks!

Clarissa

Officially no, though when I joined FD they clearly can get access and I complained about it as I felt I should have been asked permission or at least notified first.

What really gauls me though is they wouldn't match my O/D on the pretence that they couldn't see what I had available on my HSBC account.

First Direct is a trading name of HSBC Bank plc. So you are basically just dealing with the same company, just using a different name.

From my experience they do share information.

I hold a FD account as my main current account but still hold HSBC account. When I was opening a FD account with my permission they accessed my HSBC account data.

Also sometime ago when I was trying to increase my overdraft limit with HSBC my FD account number showed up on the screen and HSBC staff said that account conduct will be used to assess my HSBC overdraft facility.

I still have HSBC account but never used as I use FD and they never downgraded my account or taken away overdraft or Credit card. Possibly because my FD internal score is linked to my HSBC accounts.
