  • You will either have to do it right or not at all. No point wasting money

If the depth of the swimming pool is more than 1.2m you WILL require a building warrant
    baldly going on...
  • Ive built a few pools in my time and the way we do it is to dig the "hole" then put in a concrete ring beam which is 36" deep from the ground level. Then we use 36" steel panels with A frames at every joint and corner panels for the corners then a Roman end to step down into the pool at the shallow end.
Do the 2" pipework back to the filtration area, add underwater light, skimmers, vac points and sumps etc then fit the rubber liner blah blah blah...
    The complete kit for a 32' X 16' pool is around £9500
We charge £23k so shows you what you can make profit wise but dont forget the muck away and materials used but in honest opinion "What a waste of money"!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad at least one person acknowledged the existence of Building Regulations! Planning Permission is usually required as well.

Digging a big hole in the ground is incredibly dangerous.

I have never tried this, but what about a natural swimming pool. Google brought this up:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/bloom/actions/naturalswimmingpool.shtml

Still costs about the same to build, but cheaper to run.

I really hope that they've got this the wrong way round (depth/width):

    Dig it:
    • To stop slippage or cave-ins, dig sides that slope. Aim for a one foot vertical drop for every three horizontal feet

otherwise to get a 3 foot deep pool (barely enough to swim in) you're going to need a 20 foot wide pool and to get a nice 6 foot deep end you're going to need 36 foot wide
