This may not be up your street but I was made redundant and this is what I did !!

I typed a flyer out and pushed it through the doors in the nearest couple of streets stating what I could do ie mow lawns, help removals, lug stuff around etc etc I also put on my flyer that I was prepared to do anything legal as I had just been made redundant and needed to earn money.

I got a few phonecalls from people and seemed to end up doing loads of gardening and mowing lawns. Why ? Because people liked the fact that I didn't sit on my !!!!! but just got on with sorting out my life. I am sure I got some work out of sympathy and always got a welcoming cup of tea and a smile.

You won't become a millionaire but it will give you a little cash and people will respect you. How about babysitting ? This time of year you could be very busy. What about domestic cleaning ? We all need a hand to prepare for Christmas. I hope this is of use to you and not too 'far out'.

Good luck in your quest rinkydink and keep us informed with regard to your progress. We may not have the answers but we will do our best for you.
Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

  • just a thought but i wonder if A&L are offering such good incentives to open a premier account ie £50 ref a friend and all that, is cos they shutting down so many accounts cos people are striking back with regards charges. I been with them 15 years and they wouldnt budge on closing my account for the sake of £400 pounds that id incurred in the last yr never before (times have been hard this yr) i have my loan and cc with them also never defaulted but they didnt want me anymore and that was that!! caused alot of probs for me one way or another loosing OD and having now got a pretty crappy basic account with barclays nevermind i wont be recomending a friend to them.
