Ground Floor Woodworm

Have found areas of woodworm in downstairs of my house.
It's not extensive but will need to be treated and a few bits removed and replaced.
Now...a 'friend' who used to do this for a living, said he would do the work for £500 and we'd deal with anything else we found if it was worse when he started doing it.
I have priced up the treatment and wood just loosely...and searched on other prices for woodworm treatment and I think that this is high.
But I don't know??
Anyone else got any experience???
Thanks

  • I just looked around and saw quotes of £400 - £600 for a whole house.
Thanks DippyPud...don't know why I though everyone on here was so nice .... I don't need sarcasm. It was a fair question, and an unfair tone to the answer.
    Sorry I bothered ... I am moneysaving...not stupid.

OK thats a good enough reason to me. Get a quote from someone else to do the job. At least youhave something to compare with.

I never said you were stupid,

    shall we start again,

Get at least 3 QUOTES, if you want to get estimates as well.

Make sure you know what your getting for your ££s.

A lot depends on the age of your property and the area you live in.

    Good Luck.

We found some woodworm in the house we recently purchased. Paid for damp specialist to come in who gave us this advise, which we have followed.

Go to B & Q/Homebase & buy a £15 handpump garden spray & spray all areas with Solugard (which you can buy online). Spray in very fine misty spray - I also spoke to Solugard manufacturer who say spraying is good for 25 years. Cost us about £120 to spray the WHOLE HOUSE!! And you can buy H & S filtered mask from Screwfix though in addition we did have to replace some joists/floorboards.

Best of luck - I wouldnt like to do it again
