I tried a search of the forums but couldn't find much. Just wanted ideas about things to do for a day trip to the Isle of Wight without a car. Is the bus pass worth it? Much to do in and around Ryde? Things to see/not see? Couple with no kids.
Thanks all

We went on the hovercraft for the day a couple of years ago. Got a ticket for the (open top) bus you can get on and off when you want. The measure of love is love without measure0

If you're taking the catamaran from Pompey Harbour to Ryde check out the Wightlink website to see if they have 2-4-1 offers on fares.
Either get a day runner on the bus, or take the train to Shanklin from Ryde Pier.
If you go for the train you'll have a relaxing day out without hanging around for buses.
Shanklin is a lovely place to wander round. Then take the cliff walk to Sandown. It's a couple of miles or so, with great views on sunny day. I think a small section of the walk might be closed off.
Sandown is an okay place.
When you've finished, take the train back to Ryde Esplanade station, and have a wander round town.
Finally walk along the pier to get the catamaran back to Pompey.0 -
what about if you DO want to go over with a car ? Anyone know the cheapest way to get across ?

Wightlink from Pompey, or Red Funnel from Southampton.
Have a look at their websites.0 -
