ok................ready? Not had a letter to tell of price changes just my new bill!

I have been paying:

Gas: £97 a year for gas
+ £91 a year IGT standing charge = £180 total per year for gas

GAS NOW: £110 for gas (same usage)
+ £251 IGT standing charge!! = £360 total per year gas!Jesus! Because the IGT charge has gone from 25p a day to 68p a day!!!!!!!

Elec was: £420 per annum
Elec now.. £560 per annum (for same usage)

so, have just had a 25% increase on electricity
and a 43% increase on gas!

I only use 3200 kwh gas and 4200 elec too.

NPower robbing !!!!!!s! of course online comparison sites dont include igt costs as i discovered when i first went with npower a year ago and had to change tariff after a month as they said, oh you cant be on the tariff you've just signed up to if you're igt.....thinking swapping to british gas websave 22 might be a good idea as they come out second cheapest on the comparison sites forme and i dont think they charge for IGT??????

Nothing to do with IGT. Standard gas with nPower has standing charges of £180 or £190 per annum. £60 is a pretty standard surcharge for an IGT. As you were being charged less than that before you were receiving a bargain.

Alternative tariffs with cheaper standing charges are available from nPower. Or other suppliers.

??? Yes it is completely to do with IGT, it states it on my bill. yes the kwh hour price has gone up too, by a small percentage as shown, but the bill shows, underneath the actual cost of the elec or gas i've used:

    (previous bills:))
'igt charge = x number of days at 25p per day = £xxx'

    now my latest bill shows:(
'igt charge = x number of days at 68p per day = £xxx'

not sure where you're coming from there?!

No it is not completely to do with an IGT. They have not separated the IGT surcharge from the standard standing charge.

If you were not with an independent transporter you would still have a line in your bill stating "standing charge = x number of days at 56p per day" or a similar amount.

Yes, it is a massive increase but that is what many suppliers are doing.
  • right i see where you're coming from now. so there's a big increase in standing charges anyway is what you're saying, and that is added into my igt bit.

well npower (same company) is coming out cheaper on the price comparison sites with their sign online 22 tariff by £130 than the 'go save' i'm on now- Although again, i'm assuming that will actually be more expensive than stated by the time they add the igt on top.
so............... as british gas is coming out second best with about a £110 saving with their websave v.11, i take it i'm better of going with them as they dont charge for igt as well as a standing charge.......

thanks and feel free to correct my thinking though.... :)
