    Lloyds fab
    Barclays bad call centres
Santander only one minor issue on closing old account
Nat west fine for what I had at the time
    Nationwide appalling
Halifax ok for my fiver haha

All above from various different experiences ive had

Lloyds TSB are a good solid bank to be with, There online banking service is good, Telephone banking is easy to use, And there call center staff are extremely helpful.

Barclays, Again these are a fantastic bank to be with, I only hold a cash account with them, But i have to say, i was very impressed with there customer services when ever i've had problems with my accounts (Both current account and savings account). also the online banking and telephone banking services are extremely friendly and easy to use, Good, well spoken call center staff from my experience (each to there own i guess).

Santander i can't comment as i've never held an account with them, Although from reviews and peoples opinions on these forums they seem to be one to avoid ?

Natwest, I have the Advantage Blue account, Which for me is great value for money (I utilize the phone insurance which would cost £10 + a month through my network provider), The online banking system is very easy to get on with, There customer service can be improved (In branch staff are terrible) however when i wrote a letter of complaint a few weeks ago about bank charges they dealt with it extremely professionally and promptly, A good bank to be with in my opinion.

Nationwide, I cant comment as i haven't held an account with these.

Halifax, Haha ! they declined me for any of there Bank accounts. :o

If for good customer services then go for HSBC. Santander product offer superior interest rate compare to HSBC. For safety, both are safe as it is guaranteed by FSCS up to £85k

I know a lot of people here are complaining about Santander, but my experience tell me that they are not as bad if you play by the rule.
But it is true that HSBC is much better in customer services ...

I have a/c on both of these high street banks so I can tell from my own experience.

I opened a HSBC current account 6 months ago (after leaving Nationwide) and i have to say their customer services over the phone is hit and miss. They are great when you speak to a UK based agent (ala First Direct) but when you speak to their far east based call centre (90% of the time) then god really help you...god really help you:( I'm in the process of leaving them and going back to Nationwide who i only left because of of their over-zealous card reader security online but I would rather put up with that than HSBCs poorly trained overseas staff. At least with Nationwide, you get UK based staff all the time on the phone who actually carry out your instructions :)

I moved from Santander to Natwest, with Halifax Rewards as a second account, and can't fault either of them. They both have UK call centres, and whenever I have rang Natwest about anything they have always been polite and helpful, same goes for the branch staff at my local branch. Same with Halifax, although I had one issue with my Halifax ISA, but they sorted it out quickly. My hubby banks with HSBC, and has had a few problems with them, mainly with the overseas call centres!
Debt free and staying that way!
