Did anyone notice the expiry date change to 31/08/07?

Well, I did and decided to hold off making some final purchases until I really wanted something.

Well it seems that Motorola told HMV not to extend the expiry date and they've removed all my vouchers from my e-wallet without informing me!!

Don't think it was anything to do with Motorola

I started with £75 worth of vouchers and used £23 and had a balance of £52 which had an expiry of 31/05/07 and this changed to end of August 2007 and at the end of May my e-wallet was empty so I called HMV and gave my details and told them of the changes in dates they said they will looking it and have put the £52 back in there with new longer expiry dates.

    £47 now expires on 30/05/2009
    £5 will expire on 31/12/2007

I did have to give them one of my original codes, luckily I still had two of them still in my phone.
    Nearly debt free

They are refusing to recredit mine. Called me a liar when I told them others have had them reimbursed...
Said its within their T&C's that they can changed the expiry date to 31.08, and then change it back again and take my vouchers.
    I am rather angry...

Cant believe I am reading this. I too logged into my account towards end of May and was suprised to see expiry date of 31/8/2007. Logged in last weekend and my e-wallet was empty. E-mailed HMV customer services this was the reply.
    Thank you for your Email.
I am sorry to hear about your O2/Motorola vouchers. I can confirm that the Motorola promotional e-vouchers expired on the 31/05/07 as per the information on the original vouchers. Unfortunately we have been unable to have these promotional vouchers extended and therefore they are no longer available to spend in your e-wallet.
If you would like to take this query further we would suggest getting in touch with Motorola - the voucher issuers.

I rang HMV CS but they just reiterated what was said in e-mail about them expiring and said I should contact Motorola. I did but no reply yet !

I had given this up but Knowing what I know now and that I was not seeing things I will be straight on the phone tomorrow. Looking at the e-mail now it begins to look cleverly worded !

Not happy at all as I had logged on to spend them in May as I knew they were shortly to expire

HMV never got back to me either, instead they sent me an email very similar to the one above.

    Not happy at all...

I did ask Mr Green to help so that I can prove that they have reimbursed others but he didnt reply :(

However, I should be getting a source from elsewhere to prove this. When I do, I will then let you all know :)

  • I too looked to purchase back in May and saw that vouchers were valid until August so held off. Now no vouchers in my account. I am going to write a letter of complaint to HMV as I am not happy. Has anyone else been able to get their vouchers back.

My expiry date extended in the e-wallet too (despite my last post above eheh), and like others - they withdrew my vouchers! I phoned... a customer services adviser said she'd check then phoned leaving a message saying that the expiry date had passed.

I phoned back, said the expiry date extended on adding to e-wallet... customer services said they'd get previous customer services person to get back to me.... heard nothing.

Emailed, and got a reply saying Motorola had withdrawn the vouchers even tho HMV had "tried" to extend dates (yea right).

I didn't give up! I wrote to HMV Customer Services, and copied in Motorola Customer Services explaining all this (Motorola so they know what HMV have been saying, may be wrong, may be right... )... I also sneakily (shhh) pretended to copy in "Daily Mail Money Mail"... by CC'ing them on the letter, but never actually sending them it.

Took a while, but HMV have "as a gesture of goodwill" refunded my evouchers, and stated that they had not informed customers as we had already been warned since the original expiry on the paper coupons was June 07.

PFFTTTT!!! Bull, is what I say to that. Maybe so, but that was months ago, and if they knew the expiry date was extended in the e-wallet but incorrect it only needed them to amend whatever script generated this date to warn customers looking at their accounts.

Write them a letter, explaining displeasure at service, etc etc, saying you're not sure you're keen to keep shopping there if e-vouchers can disappear at will despite shown dates. Worked for me, fingers crossed for others.

I used all mine by the original use by date because I knew they had to be used by that date, and it was on the original promo. Did nobody else know this?
