I used my debit card on Thursday to buy train tickets with south west trains and they have taken the sum for the tickets but also the same sum again which i take it is to check you have the funds in the account so am i right in that it takes 7 days for it to go back onto the account?
now does the bank holidays make it any longer or will it still be the 7 days?
i bank with halifax and now i have a - balance and now am worried that i will get a bank fee for the account having a - when its not my fault.

Did it online.
1 has been debited from my account but the other for the same sum is pending on my account.
I rang the bank and they say nothing they can do and rang the trainline and they say they have only taken the 1 sum.0 -
In that case you have to wait for the transaction to drop off the system.
Personally I always use a credit card for online transactions - this leaves my current account funds free in case of need.0 -
This is a regular occurance from many companies. Even though the second amount doesn't leave the account it is unavaiable.
I remember a while back a post that it took 7 days or more for the money to be recognised as being availalble for them to use, leaving them without money they needed for shopping/bills.
With the Bank Holidays it might take longer than usual sadly, but could be back by Tuesday if you are fortunate.0 -
Well not gone back on yet now its been a week.
Does anyone know what kind of day it could go back on given the bank holidays since last tuesday?0
