Large Laserjet Printer - in my face

Options
Next to me on my desk is placed a large high volume HP laserjet printer. The side vents are directly level with my face. I cough a lot more at work than I do at home and would like to build a case to get it moved. Can anyone offer facts to support my case. I know that toner is not a healthy substance.

Thanks if you can help

Rachel

I think your best option would be to argue the case on the grounds of health and safety. Do you have a H&S representative at work? Im sure the dust being blown out of those vents would be an issue, try saying theres a possibility of you developing occupational asthma.

Try heer for some backup http://www.agius.com/hew/resource/ocasthma.htm

You are getting ozone and a lot more in your face

    See http://!!!!!!.com/3jxdl

From HP "Ozone can cause eye, nose, throat, and lung irritation. It can also cause headaches and dryness of the eyes, nose, and throat."

Thank you both - very useful links.

The printer got moved on to my desk because someone else was worried about it being near them!

I'll use the info. Thanks again.

Used to install toner on machines years ago. Don't know if its still the case, but toner exhaust used to classified as toxic. I used to have a special vacuum in case there was any spillage - cost the earth at the time.

I can remember being told by someone that toner could cause cancer of the cervix and that it was important that if women got toner on their hands to wash them before going to the loo!! I think toner still has carbon black in it, which may be the culprit

thanks for your response. I managed today to get the printer moved 3 feet further away!!
