the netgear adapter should scan for networks and see the speedtouch, you then need to enter the wep key or WPA to get the connection working

WEP normally on a pink sticker on the modem, if not you need to go into the admon panel

surely the paperwork that comes with the AOL router explains all this ??

You do not need to install the AOL software on any of your PC's. Have you entered the encryption key now?

  • yes but the connection connects at good or very good signal but then stops

Don't understand what you mean by "then stops". Are you sure that you have entered the encryption key correctly?

  • yes i think so espresso because it does actually find the network and then connects to the host computer,it will then stay connected to the host for a minute or so but then the connection drops and it starts scanning again

  • what is the host computer?

if it says connected in wireless, it doesn't mean it is, perversly. If your encryption key is mismatched, it may still say connected, but never work.
