I would wonder why it cracked. It is unusual.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • its about 6.5 years old, we bought the house new and its had to put up with me during all that time (6"2/20st) so its done well but really cannot afford a replacement at this time really looking to fix

You could try the original housebuilder to see if they would do a goodwill repair. I don't think the NHBC warranty would cover this sort of thing, but you should perhaps politely point out that this should not have happened if the tray was fitted correctly, which, given the "obvious pride that they take in their properties they would be keen to ensure that it was!"

I had a similar crack but despite trying various sealants it was impossible to fix on any long term basis as there was too much flexing of the tray when people were taking a shower. The acrylic base had a piece of chipboard glued to the bottom to stiffen it, but as this had got wet it was falling apart.

I ended up replacing it with one of the really heavy resin/stone type trays from B & Q. The plain white ones were about £30 and I have to say it's much better than the original.
  • sorry for delay in replying, their number is 01827831887, there is also a firm called magicman that do the same thing. The repairs are pretty well invisible but it depends where the crack is and if it has compromised the strength of the tray. cosmetic stuff no problem.

We've just repaired a cracked fiberglass bath with a car repair kit - it's not beautiful, but it's a lot better than a pool of water dripping through the kitchen light fitting...
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
  • if its acrylic, what about superglue? i worked on a college project and we used superglue to great effect on acrylic plastics?
