Does anyone know why my hard disk camcorder files play slowly in windows media player ? Ive tried them on other pc's and they work ok.
My pc plays them slow without sound.

Try posting a PC Spec and what version of media player you are using
  • AMD athlon XP2400+
    2.00GHz 512MB of RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce4 TI 4800 SE
    WMPlayer version 10

Ive already got the classic player but it crashes when I play the video
I can run the camcorder through my tv card with some loss in quality but it works. I dont understand why the windows media player plays it slow on my pc and not on others
I think I downloaded all the latest codecs already.

Your CPU and RAM are fine .. however are you using the new NVIDIA drivers.. If so there is a bug in these drivers that might be causeing the problem. Depending on your motherboard chipset you might have to re-install your chipset drivers (especially if it is a VIA chipset).

Check under device manager...system devices.. this should tell you if its VIA or not.... If it is go to http://www.viaarena.com/ and download the newest drivers for your board.. You dont have to uninstall the old ones
