Credit Card fee for online betting?

Hi,
Just recieved my statement from Opus and came across 2x £5 cash advance fees because I placed 2 bets through Ladbokes on the Grand National.
I usually put a bet on the Grand National each year, but never been charged by my credit card company before. Should I complain to my credit card company as they never informed me of online betting fees.
Thanks
Darren

Most (all?) credit card providers treat gambling payments as cash advances. You are not the first to be caught out by this. Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

Is it worth pursuing with the company as its the first and last time it will ever happen!0

I think you mean to not be arsed to read the T&C don't you?0 -
Not sure why all the criticism for not reading T+Cs. Have the posters concerned always read T+Cs - when they've booked a flight, bought insurance, bought stuff on internet etc?
Reality is that people sometimes do, sometimes don't. Most people just skim them. Easy to miss the bit about gambling transactions are treated as cash. It's not cash, and they never used to be charged that way. Also for "real" cash transactions, you are usually warned at the point of sale about the extra charge - says on the ATM machine, different voucher to sign etc.
T+Cs are long and complicated. The use of summary boxes is an acknowledgement of this and a kind of encouragement not to read the rest.
Yep, you should always read T+Cs, but life is not perfect. AND, even if you do, the effect of regulation, implied terms, what people are told on the phone and in advertisements means that the written T+Cs are not the whole story as to what is legally effective.
To the OP: you can always try and argue it. If you're nice, they might do something to retain goodwill, especially if you say you want to close your account. But it has become standard practice now so I think the chances are slim. The fact you weren't charged in the past doesn't really help, I'm afraid.0
