barclay card 20 months. accepted. no limit

is this usual?

I applied online. was instantly told i had been accepted "welcome to barclay card" etc - but they never mentioned what limit I had been given.

i only care as i want to make some balance transfers and want to know if the limit is large enough.

seems odd that they don't say.

anyone else experienced this?

  • Some tell you in the first letter you receive. This card was my first ever credit card and they gave me a limit of £2000 with it, this was told to me in the first letter.

You must be lucky to have that kind of credit card for your very first one with a high credit limit when you have no (or limited) credit history... You must earn a lot.

Most people's first ever credit card is either a Barclaycard Iniial, Vanquis, Capital One Progres, etc...
  • They'll probably just close it without letting you know as soon as it's received as per other successful customers recently ;)

They will tell you via email what you limit will be

Could just be being slow due to the holidays/short weeks.
But as mentioned above just be aware that barclays have been accepting and subsequently declining a lot of people recently (or closing the new account after the transfer has been done and then not honouring the 0% deal on the transferred balance).

Just don't make any plans as yet which involves that card, I would wait until you make your first purchase..

I have had my Barclaycard for about 9 months now. They initally gave me an £1800 credit limit then increased it after about 4 months to £4500.
