New 30-day notice on energy bills
Options
Customers must now be told about energy price rises 30 days in advance, rather than being notified up to two months after the event. New 30-day notice on energy bills
I think this has been in the pipeline for some time. Wouldn't it be better if all the suppliers had to compete against one another to offer tariffs at the same time each year, which last at least for 6 months? This would allow us to compare without being 'gazumped' if that is the right word.

This has been discussed several times on MSE.
It is a retrograde step for those who understood the old rules, but probably won't make much difference to the majority.0 -
It's a step in the right direction, but completion of the circle requires the Switch sites to up their game.
Yes you will get 30 days notice, but as the Switch sites will ignore the new tariff until it becomes operational they are of little use in seeking alternative suppliers, and whilst you will have had 30 days notice of the new prices, you still only have 10 days from reciept of that notice to reject the new terms and Switch0 -

Most of the switch sites update the prices as soon as a drop/rise is announced anyway so I can imagine they'll do this to the new 30 day rule with no problem..
As you can see here.. http://www.energyhelpline.com/nortonfinance_loa_standard/fri/Domesticenergy/Domestic/GetHelp?reference=fhl_priceincreases_1
