Thanks both of you, it would be difficult to prove especially as the mortgage consultants are no longer trading, I do know this to be true as I actually phoned once on her behalf asking if she could do without it and was told the same thing....she couldnt have the mortgage without it but as you say proving it is another matter. Leezoeharley can I ask what you put in your first letter of complaint?
If the mortgage consultants (I assume the ones that sold the policy) are no longer trading then who would you complain to?

WIth PPI if this was sold after 14th jan 2005 you could take the complaint to the FSCS for them to deal with. I would assume the same with missold MPPI although not sure????

When was it sold and who sold it?

I already took it to the fscs and they told me to write to legal and general as they were acting on their behalf, they were taken out in November 2005
  • I just told them that at the point of sale we were told that we had to have the payment protection to secure the deal so to speak and then explained the reasons why I believed we were mis-sold.

All of this was conducted via the telephone to the PPI complaints Team.

Strange that is. Usually according to the FSA Handbook if you have been missold PPI you would complain to those that sold the policy and if they have dissolved then you would take the complaint to the FSCS. I know FOS couple PPI and MPPI in some cases so I would not think that MPPI is any different a type complaint to PPI. I wonder why they have said to complain to L and G? Are they principals/tied agents/appointed reps to the firm that sold you the MPPI?

Having 6 months full, six months half pay on sickness can make some MPPI/ASU plans a complete waste of time. On those types you would expect a complaint to result in an upheld decision. However, it doesnt mean they will for all.

First of all, very few people have such generous sick pay. Secondly if the policy still pays out if you are in receipt of FULL sick pay then you cant complain it would not pay out (you can still complain but its obvious that its easy for them to reject).

The complaint in this case would be made to L&G as they were tied agents of L&G
