    Hi Lois

Hope things are going well. I agree with you on the surveys, just not worth the money. I haven't got into the cashback stuff but I really should. My new task is ebay which I am dreading. Really hate ebay to be honest but I have a truck load of baby stuff and clothes and it is probably the best place to do it on.

Lois Have you considered doing some exam marking to supplement the child minding fees?

    Hi grateful.

I think you've got me confused with somebody else. I know somebody on here was talking about giving up teaching to become a child-minder, but I can't remember who. :o

It wasn't me, though. I'm still teaching (part-time). I did exam marking a few years ago when I was a SAHM, but I hated it! And now I have quite enough marking to do for my own classes, without taking on any extra. ;)

I hope the person who's switching to child-minding reads my diary and sees your suggestion, though!

Not a bad day for me today. Another £12.50 to finish off the "voluntary contribution" letters, and £2.15 for lunch as usual, but no other spending. Must go and update diary, but need to sort DD out first.

I'm not an excel geek, but I am designing my own financial database. I had a bit of a forehead slpaaing moment when I almost bought a package to replace ms money, then I realised I could do it myself, as I am a database consultant. Doh!

Once I've finished it, I intend to use a reporting package to create some reports and graphs.

Good luck Lois, will be good to see the results of your spending diary :)

Hi Lois, glad the spending diary is going well. I do some surveys sites and it's finding out which ones suit you best based on effort based reward. There are many that i don't do and if i don't have time i just miss/ignore the survey invites.

I would recommend cashback sites though, they are fab when renewing annual insurance policies as sometimes offer pretty good cashback. There is also cashback offered for free trials at times, i.e lovefilm and then it's just a case of cancelling when trial has finished. I have made about £400 since last summer i think doing this.

I have signed up to be an exam marker but I doubt it will happen this summer as I was a little late, I am also looking at tutoring, to supplement too.

on a side note, i have just gotten back into surveys, I cant do them allthe time as they bore me to tears, but even doing a few it still adds up - hoping to have a cash neutral christmas.
I have done a couple this morning on VO -almost at my £10 payout

How is the spending diary going? I would be in such a muddle without mine, I did have a spreadsheet to do it all, but when my laptop when kaput i switched to my little red book and have not switched back, i like doing it the old school way, plus I can take it anywhere with me

Well, I've been pleasantly surprised today by the bloke on the end of the phone at British Gas.

I got a letter this morning: "Dear Mrs E, You got in touch with us recently asking for your Direct Debit to be changed, which we've now done...." and saying they were putting my gas DD up by another £9 a month. Now, I certainly didn't ask them to do that. My gas account is £55 in credit - why would I want to increase my DD??? Anyway, I've just phoned them, and the man said he couldn't see why it had happened, he was very sorry, he's now put it back down again in time for the 1st June payment, and I would get a letter to confirm. Phew.

Diary up to date. I thought it was going to be my first NSD of the month, but sadly not. I delivered DD to the school disco and found she needed money for a hot dog etc. Still, £1.80 total spend today isn't bad!

    Hey Gallygirl -

If you are serious, would you be willing to take a copy when I do the first cut? It will be nice to get some feedback!

May be a couple of weeks yet. I want to put reports and charts on it.

    Thanks

I'd be interested to see what reports and charts you do. :)

    Cool! More willing victims.

Anything in particular you would like to see? I mean do you often wish there was a report or chart that you don't have?
