C/H Header tank has hot water in it

hello all, need some help on my c/heating.

the system consist of the following

1. standard boiler aprox 11 years old
2. hot water cylinder in airing cupboard with large water tank above.
3. in the loft a small c/h header tank.
4. micro bore pipe to raditors via trv`s i fitted 2 years ago.
5. thermostat in hall way (rad in all way has no trv and bathroom has no trv).
6. pipework in airing cupboard has pump (setting 3)
- 3 way danfos vale(changed last year motor went)
- pressure relive valve ( set at number 3 (bar??))
- going to cylinder tank set @ 60,
- boiler setting on 3.5 ,
======================================

Fault i have is

when the hot water is selected the pipes gurgil the water gets hot ok and all the rads where working when selected,

so with the hot water selected only --
the vent pipe to the c/h header tank and the supply from the c/h header tank are red hot, i belive the pump is working as it hums when selected i have turned the pump up to no4 but with no differance............

any advice

many thanks

Tim

sounds like a duff boiler thermostat.
so the boiler is running at full pelt and the boiling hot water has nowhere else to go but up the vent/safety pipe.
    Get some gorm.

thanks for your advice i am going to measure the cylinder tank temp tomorrow in relation to the setting on the guage, also i could turn down the boil temp to 1 and select heating and hot water to see if it still heats them up to confirm the boiler is at fault,,

    thanks for your speed reply

Its pumping over. Turn the pump DOWN. Does that make a difference?

Say about the pipework configuration. It should be boiler, vent, feed, circulator (pump). Is it like that?

What is the horizontal separation between vent and feed?

How high does the vent go above the F&E tank?

Have you got an air separator on the vent? They look like this:

Is the circulator installed the right way round?

    Cheers
