mum has a prepayment meter is it worth £100 to change to normal meter?
Options
hi all my mum has just moved house so cant really give readings she now has a meter for both gas and elect ive done a comparison the best seems to be bg tho still seem very expensive for a one bed flat and i take it that you cant fix with prepay meter.
because shes on her own this could work out quite expensive. shes been told by scottish p(current supplier) £100 to change to a normal meter? is this worth it? or would it work out cheaper in the long run? thanks

You can fix with a prepayment meter you load it up with twice what you use at this time of year so that when winter starts you have a big credit and still load the meter with the same amount so hopefully by this time next year the balance will start to be building again.
NO £100 IS NOT WORTH IT......
If you switched to a credit meter that is exactly what they will do anyway but charge you £100 for it. If you switched to someone who removes meters for free that would be the best option. I know if you have a good credit rating Ebico will do it. There is no minimum term so once the meters are changed then you can switch again onto the most competitive credit tariff. Annoying having to switch twice in a short period of time but it will save you £100. You'll probably may even end up back on Scottish Power if they are the cheapest provider at the time you compare.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

British Gas will change the meter for free as long as the account holder passes a credit check. Then probably best to change to their Websaver 11 tariff although a comparison site would confirm which is the cheapest option.0
