Npower Repayment Letter Stolen & Cashed

Options
Hi, I was hoping someone reading this had heard of a similar story and might just be able to help.

A couple of months ago I read on mse that Npower had overcharged customers and were sending out letters informing customers. So I called them to see if I was one of these customers and if they had sent a letter to my old address, where I had an Npower account. Sure enough, they had, so I asked them to send out another one to my new address - they said I should get one in about a month. A month went by and I still hadn't received one so I called them. They said they hadn't sent one because they had found that someone had taken the original letter (sent to my old address) to the P.O in Dec 2010 and cashed it after showing I.D. So either it was intercepted in the post or the guy in my old house has done it.

All Npower will do is give me the number for the P.O. The P.O can't help without more info, ie, which branch it was cashed in and the barcode number on the letter. Obviously I'm very concerned about this because someone out there is walking round with my I.D. The amount we're talking about is £58, so worth having.

I believe Npower should provide more info and if they can't they should send out another payment letter. They have acted disgracefully imo. I would have thought they could trace the payment through the barcode and find where the money was cashed, or at least provide the barcode no. and let me call the PO with it. I hope this serves as a warning to anyone considering a switch to Npower. DON'T!

your not supplied by them anyway, report it to the police
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    Hi mustafachapati

I am really concerned to hear about the problems you have had with your refund letter. To cash the letter in at your local post office, you need two forms of ID before the money can be handed over, which means that this ID was presented.

I would like the opportunity to look into this for you. Please can you send your details to
