Broken Headphones and no receipt - exchange/Refund at HMV?

Hello everyone! :)

I bought a pair of Sennheiser HD 205 Headphones from HMV in December last year, and today they have given up. The sound has comepletely deteriorated to the point where everything I listen to sounds muted. When I bought these headphones I also paid a little extra for an extended warranty. However, I've looked all over my flat and cannot find the receipt anywhere, and i'm pretty sure I binned the box months ago (oops!)
Pretty stupid I know, considering they cost me £42. I'm just wondering if anyone has any similar experience, or if they know anything about HMV's exchange/refund policy on broken items (without a receipt)?
Also, I bought the headphones using my debit card, do you think I could go in with a bank statement from December and this would work as proof of purchase?

Thank you!

If you get nowhere with HMV, contact Sennheiser directly. They are very good with repairing/ replacing faulty items.
    Gone ... or have I?

Wow, that was a bargain £42 for a pair of quality headphones.

Try the bank statement way if its easier, then the manufacturer.

    Good luck.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

£32 at Amazon, plus you can always print out proof of purchase! ;)

Hmm I wouldn't say they were "quality headphones" if they only lasted 4 months! Next time I will be investing in a pair of Bose headphones. :)

Oh I agree with you. But you think that buying a quality name is buying quality goods. Obviously not.....

I bought a pair of Philips Cordless about 5 years ago and they are brilliant and never give me any trouble.

Great for when everybody goes to bed and i can have the telly as loud as i like.

If you paid for extended warranty, they must surely have a record of that on their system. Shouldn't be too hard to find.

We bought the kids an XBox from GAME with a warranty. Lost the receipt and got the red ring of death. They soon found the warranty and replace it without a problem
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

Thank you so much for this advice! It has really given me hope! They don't have my details electronically, however, they wrote down my details in a book, so I will definitely enquire about this. :)
