College Student - 22 - Wanting Credit Card - Little Income

Hey!
I was wondering if anyone could help me.
I am 22 years old and a student.
I am currently at college, but going to university in September (I have an unconditional place - firmed).
I want to get a credit card.
I will be paying this off every month without question, so interest rate is not really an issue.
I don't have much income at the moment, I have tried to apply for a few credit cards but they have turned me down (due to the fact I have basically no income).
Really, I'm happy with a student credit card BUT they ask for the Uni course code but of course, I am not at Uni at the moment, just college.
Anyone know what I could do in my position?
Thanks!
(Btw, though I have no big income, I do have £25,000 in savings ... I don't know if this helps my cause or not)

wait until summer and get a student current a/c; many will also offer a student CC with a low credit limit.

Try a Vanquis card or capital one card.

    Or your bank ;)
Can I find out my credit score?
You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)

If you pay off every month, why not use a debit card?

Which bank(s) are your savings account(s) with?

You have more chance of getting a credit card with them. Also from experience they will offer you higher credit limits.

Agree with Clapton that it might be sensible to wait for your student current account as likely they will offer a credit card.

Just wait for the student account and you'll get one far more easily. You can also count student loans as part of your income. If you're paying it off every month, it's not as if you have any legitimate need for the credit now, so wait.

Totally agree, your best bet is apply in person with your bank where you keep your saving account. Set up a meeting with an account manager (first line person after tellers) on a basis of obtaining a financial advice and discuss it, should not be a big deal. Good luck!
