Hi,
Can anyone help me please - i took out a contract a few years ago with Tiscali that have recently been took over by talk talk. I am currently trying to change to another supplier (Orange) but have been told i have to pay for an engineer (£125!!!) as i am no longer on the bt exchange as talk talk have took took over bt lines.
Can anyone please advise as i want to go to a cheaper provider but without paying expensive engineer costs!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks

If your line has been LLU'd to TT then you can't go direct to another LLU provider. You need to take your line rental back to BT on a return to donor, this is free but requires a 12m line rental contract. Once you are back on the BT network you can place your broadband with your preferred ISP (but hopefully not Orange).
What you have been advised to do involves provisoning a new BT line, hence the £125 charge-it's not necessary (but given Orange's level of competence, unsurprising that this is what they suggested). No free lunch, and no free laptop
