because the road had just been relaid with a new type of special, quiet tarmac :T

To this day, whenever we drive past that stretch, DH and I look at each other and exclaim in unison: "Quiet tarmac!" :rotfl:

Can you not hear the difference?

There's a stretch of road they did in Oldham with different stuff and it sounds slightly different when you're in the car but it's designed to lower traffic levels for residential areas.

It also breaks up like you wouldnt believe! I have just moved from oldham!

Our !!!!!! moment was when we went to view the hosue we bought and moved into last Saturday. The cellar was advertised as "2 roomed, very spacious"
What they should have said was
"2 roomed converted to 3 with aluminium wallpaper to the smaller room creating a fully decked-out cannabis growing room with a light fragrance of said plants"

When i questioned the EA about it, her response was "Oh ive only just started working for this EA, i dont know the history of the house!

We still bought it, needless to say, aforementioned growing room has now been ripped out!

    These are funny :D

My !!!!!! moment viewing a house was being proudly shown the massive gun cupboard built into one of the alcoves in the lounge still bought the house tho.

My next !!!!!! moment was after I'd moved in and the dog wasn't keen on eating out of it's metal bowl if it was touching the wall. Turned out the bloke was a bit DIY with the electrics, one whole side of the house was live, every time you touched the wall you got an electric shock :eek:

I remember viewing a house the EA said needed 'cosmetic work'. Haha... OMG it was like something out of Grimebusters, or whatever it's called on the telly. One room had a filthy computer in it with tonnes of empty small water bottles around it, along with clothes, rubbish... several walls needed taking down and it was as dark as hell in there. Can't even begin to describe the loos. I couldn't wait to get out of that house and wash my hands. No way was that a 'quick paint job' - might have been a developer's dream, but not mine!

Also remember viewing a flat where the Agent let herself in and shouted hello, but it wasn't until we got upstairs that we realised the vendor was in bed with her GF. The GF stayed hidden under the covers the rest of the time we were in the room. Oh dear lol... (I bought that flat!)

I saw one once where the agent pre warned me that the guy was a world war 2 buff with lots of memorabilia. He also had an eye condition which meant he didnt like bright colours.

What he neglected to mention was that not a single item was allied memorabilia and the place could more accurately be described as a shrine to Hitler. Every room was painted black and the only decor on the walls was flags with swasticas on them.

    We didnt buy.
