concrete post for fence panels, next door does not have slot

we are going to replace our old rotting back fence and put in concrete posts and slotted fence panels, however next door has the concrete posts and panels already.
the back fence of theirs does not have a post that has a slot so we can slide our fence into it, is that normal?
what is the best way around this. i have bought enough concrete posts to do my back fence but i am probably going to have a problem concreting next to their post as theirs should of already been concreted in
should theirs of had a slot (like the other neighbours next door but one) or is it a common occurrence to install another post next to the neighbours and if so any tips
thanks

I've gotten over this problem in the past by using large circlips around the existing post and the new fence panel.“Everything comes to pass, nothing comes to stay.”0

i already have my posts.
not sure exactly how you would tie the fence panel to the existing post as there are two fence panels going into it, which are not mine.0 -
Use fence clips screwed to the post0

Before attaching anything to the neighbours fence you must ask their permission.0

Sounds like they have used a corner post. You could ask permission to remove this and replace with a three way post so all panels slide into same post, makes a much nicer looking job.0
