Help please re: BT

Heya.
My friend is with BT, and was saying today about we ridiculous bills.
Apparently, she paid one bill late, and they cut off her incoming & outgoing calls, and her broadband. She paid the bill, but the next month they then charged her a reconnection charge for her BB, a reconnection charge for her incoming calls, and a reconnection charge for her outgoing calls (yep, three separate reconnection charges) and then charged her a late payment fee on top. This made her next bill over £90, which she couldn't afford, so she ended up paying late again. Cue 6 months into a 24 month contract, and she's forever in the red with them. She rarely uses her home phone, and only has the basic broadband, yet she's paying £50+ a month in fees. I haven't yet had a proper look at her bill, but I was wondering if anyone knows if there's anything she can do, as the repeatedly high bills are making her have to pay late each month as she's living on benefits. However, she has been told if she leaves she will have to pay hefty termination fees.

On benefits. Then switch to BT Basic and DO NOT use the phone at all. Broadband can be used to keep in touch with everyone. Or text someone and ask them to call you back.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

She only uses the phone to call her bank and benefits people when she needs to, otherwise she just texts.0
