npower discounts - any problems?

I am looking for an electricity only supplier and so far npower are the cheapest IF and only IF they come good on their annual discount.
So I'm just wondering if anyonehas had any problems getting their discounts (after 12 months) credited to their accounts?
Any other problems that would be sufficiently worrying for me to go with another supplier?
Thanks.

I've been with them for a couple of years. They've always paid out the annual discount on time and without prompting. Be aware, though, that getting money back at the end of the year isn't quite as good as the equivalent price reduction up front. For example, if they increase their prices to uncompetitive levels you will then have the dilemna of whether to move or wait for the annual discount to come off first.
Re. other problems, I know they don't have the best reputation for customer service, however I've never personally had a problem. If you go with them, cross your fingers and hope they avoid making mistakes, as they are reputed to be bad at putting them right it they do happen!0 -

Thanks Casper - Im not sure I understand that first bit. Could you please elaborate?0 -
Sorry for late response. My point was, I started with npower in July. In February I realised I could be buying my energy more cheaply from someone else. But, if I stay with npower I'll get a £100 discount when July comes round. It makes it more complicated comparing the prices.0

Be aware that that n'powers annual cash-back is dependanant on you having made 12 consecutive D/Debit payments, not the anniversary date of your account.
As you will not have paid your first D/Debit until your account had been up and running for a month, it will be 13 months before you meet the 12 D/D requirement to get the cash-back0 -
I'm still waiting since March. I got a credit when I first joined which paid for the first quarter of power then the next one was paid by quarterly DD. They then didn't bill for 6 months so I've only made 2 payments in a year. Currently have a complaint registered in the system and waiting on a response.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Hi
I've not had a problem with them applying the discount - it's always done automatically.
hope that helps0 -
We ALWAYS have problems with npower applying the discount, the latest statement being no exception!
Despite always calling npower before every statement / bill is due to make sure everything is as it should be and then have npower agree that it is, they continue to get it wrong.
To cut a long story short, our dual fuel anniversary is August and we're still waiting for the DFD for 2009/2010. I raised a formal complaint on 28th April but having not heard anything from them since, I gave npower a call this afternoon...to be told I was still, after all this time, 478th in line to have my complaint even looked at.0
