wedding dress nightmare :(

i brought a dress off ebay, uk seller, good feedback, 100% and the pictures of dress were decent close ups

Seller described dress as clean, ready to wear, all beads intact....

Dress arrives, beads missing, stains on some of the embroidered flowers (looks like a sauce of some kind)

am so upset and teary, this dress was perfect for what i wanted and am just so angry because the seller said it was in as new condition...

I have no idea how much a dry clean costs, and what if the stain wont come out?

Just feel knackered and teary :(

awww that totally sucks. If you paid by paypal you can open a SNAD against the seller and return for a refund, I don't know if that's something you want to do. I think you'd also lose the postage so that might not be an option.

you could ask the seller first for a partial refund to cover dry-cleaning, seeing as the dress isn't as described and go from there maybe?

Some big asda superstores have drycleaners in them, I know they dry clean wedding dresses so it may be worth giving them a try and pricing it up.

I had to return something recently to ebay and the new dispute is brilliant. You get full refund and they give you a label to print out so its free tracked parcelforce return! open a dispute through ebay. I also emailed customer service and offered to provide photos. They accepted these and it helped their decision.

welll i say full refund the goods arrived with seller yesterday so refund should arrive soon.

Johnsons dry cleaners do a wedding service...it may work out a bit cheaper than a specialist dry cleaner.

Some people opt for washing their dresses in a duvet in their washing machine,if your're brave enough to do it that might be an option.

What sort of material is it as there are stain devils that could work

Its about £80 for a professional dry clean in a specialist shop

Did the listing not suggest that the dress would need cleaning or had it been cleaned and the stains that are left are after cleaning?...if thats the case that the dress had been cleaned then it may prove more difficult to get clean and you should go back to the seller...although I suppose you need to consider what you paid for the dress because you may still have got yourself a good dress for the price once its cleaned and pressed up properly.

Aww miss-pixie, what a shame! I'm not an Ebay expert but others have already commented on taking a grievance (or whatever) out on the seller and getting your money back.

However, if you can't clean the dress to get rid of stains - can you dye it? How long have you got to find another dress if necessary?

Good luck hon and hugs. x

If you do return it, ensure that it will fully track on-line. You don't want the seller refusing to refund if you can't prove delivery (it will also help with the paypal dispute)

Make sure that the parcel is insured for the correct value, if you use recorded or normal post it's only covered up to £46, so you will need to use either Special Delivery or a courier.

If the description said it was clean with no damage, yet the item is dirty & damaged, then you have a strong case for a refund.

Email the seller first, but if they don't give you a satisfactory response, raise a dispute with ebay.

Act sooner rather than later to get resolution.
