Very basic question

How do you record your monthly spending to keep in line with your budget?

Do you use spreadsheets? Ledger books? etc etc

The budget I'm sure I can do from the MSE template but how do I then record incomings and outgoings in the easiest way? I thought I would be able to buy a book that would guide me through it but I can't seem to find anything!! I can find loads of budget templates but nothing to record cashflow! Am I being dim or is there nothing that makes this task easier?!

i use a simple excel spreadsheet - details EVERYTHING you spend (even small treats when out in town, etc!) do a running total using the greek Z (?) button..

a good way to review where your money goes, or is wasted..?
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

    Hi,

I have an excel sheet with a simple budget one one tab and a spending diary on the other. PM with an email address if you (or anyone) want it.
