Are yearly services worth it on an old car?

I've had about 30-cars in 10-years and the newest other than my current car, has been 11-years old. I've never paid more than £600 and never paid a garage to maintain any of them. I tend to just keep them ticking by and keep all the levels topped up etc.0

Nationwide do an oil and filter change for about £30, using castrol, so its hardly any cheaper to do yourself and avoids getting oil all over yourself etc.
Maybe stretch the proper service intervals and have just an oil change in the meantime?

okay, cool, I don't know why I think of 2000 as being old, eleven years to me feels like an old car. I know I wouldn't buy one that old anyway.
My girlfriends getting rid of her car now cause it's six years old and she's worried about it becoming unreliable, it's only got 60,000 miles on the clock.0 -
The fact is, only you can make the decision as to whether the car is worth maintaining.
FWIW I tend to get cars serviced regardless of age and condition. It's only £100 a year and it brings peace of mind.0 -
do you intend to sell it in a few years ? if so then no service will knock money off you selling price .
if you intend to keep it then you want to keep in good repair . false economy not to service .
i have 1998 Honda with 120,000 miles and i have a oil and fluids service every 5-6 K . i fully intend to get it to at least a quarter of a million miles .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0
