EON And UDS issues
Options
Need help on this please, i was with EON for my gas and after paying off my account in December 2010 I moved to British Gas as my suppliers. Thinking i was debt free i was sent a bill from EON originally for @£85 for the month, and then a final demand for £155.11p shortly after which i found odd? i am no longer with EON and have made numerous attempts to sort the account out via phone calls and Emails and have offered a token payment of £5per month which was refused.
I sought advice from CAB in Middlesbrough to which i was told to make a Token Payment of £1 per month as this is a "Non Priority Debt", this has subsequently being refused again and i have received a disturbing letter from UDS, stating that they are taking action against me, and that they are unhappy that i havnt contacted them, if that is the case why have UDS contacted me 3-4 times and i have rang them once which i can prove via phone bills, my offer of £1 per month has been refused. the 4th time i was cut off by them, I am willing to pay but due to myself being on Benefits i cannot afford £26 a month or £20per month as i only have £13 per month left for non essential things, as well pay current suppliers, live and eat, i do have a 6yr old daughter to feed as well and this wasnt even taken into consideration at all.

Hi Lee D - When you Switched from Eon to BG, BG would have asked you for your meter readings and advised you at the same time of the date the Switch would take place.
These meter readings are passed around the system and end up with Eon, who then send you a Final Bill based on those same readings - CHECK that the readings on Eons bill are same as BG's start readings - If they do not match, particularly if Eons reading is higher, WRITE a letter of complaint.
From your post I gather UDS are a Debt Collection Agency, if you do need write to Eon send a copy of the same letterto UDS0 -
Yes they did and no i did not check Eon's Final bill with British Gas's, I'd just like to point out that upon returning from a long weekend away, ive just got another letter from UDS, which is highly annoying telling me ive not been in touch AGAIN, they only rang me twice last week! i feel as though they are harassing me now and i want something done about this asap...0

Hi Lee D
I agree with dogshome, the first thing to do is make sure the final bill is accurate.
If not, ask for a complaint to be raised. This will put a hold on all debt follow up whilst the matter is investigated.
Once you're sure the final bill is accurate, I would contact us and discuss a payment arrangement. I do understand you've already offered £5/month which has been rejected but it's important to put something in place as debt follow up will continue without it.
Is it possible to, say, pay part of the balance and set up a payment arrangement for the rest?
Contact us directly, in writing if you prefer, and ask for a hold to be placed on follow up whilst you discuss the options available. Talk to a manager if necessary. Contact details are on your bill.
Hope this points you in the right direction Lee D. Give me a shout if you need any more advice as will be happy to help.
