  • I'm off to Al*i today to do the last shop of the month (I hope) I need milk, pull ups (DS wants big boy nappies now), cold meat for sarnies, spuds and bacon. There's more on my list that I can't recall at the mo, but I'm hoping not to spend more than £30.

Will update sig after shop x

Back from holiday to a completely empty fridge and a few things in the store cupboard aside from the Swiss chocolate, lol. Managed to hold out till my usual shopping day today, spent a total of £54.58 in A!di and Morrison$ bring this month's spend up to £138.56. Probably going to be well under budget this month and still have one shop to go before June.:D Had two more NSDs since I got back.

Hello all am still abstaining from going near to the shops and using as much of my freezer/store cupboards as possible.Giving up shopping is a bit like giving up smoking ,'you know you want to but you also know its going to cost you later' I gave up the wicked weed around 30 years ago and have never regretted it.Now its a case of trying to stay away from supermarkets as much as possible .I have seemed to have got it down to a fine art in as much as I have a little list of things actually needed by the kettle and only take enough cash out with me to buy it with. That way I'm not tempted by an 'offers' They are 'on the offer' as the shops are trying to sell it to you not that you really need it at all.Once you can get your head round that then your half way there. Tonight I am having some steamed salmon with herbs and seasoning and new potato's .The salmon I dug out from the freezer and the spuds are what are left over from Tuesdays lunch .I had about 4/5 that I hadn't scraped and I thought I would do them tonight .Once cut up there should be enough for dinner tonight for me plus whats left over in a salad tomorrow.
I have some yoghurt that I have to use up so I will have the rest of my tropical salad left over from yesterday with it for pudding.Left overs are a great way of streetching a meal to two.
With the salad tomorrow I will use a tin of sardines mixed up with mayo and some chopped herbs. I have quite a store cupboard of tinned stuff that I am going to list and sort out tonight.I am sure there are a good dozen or so dinners in there that I can put into my menu plan for the rest of this month.Only 10 more days till the end of the month with luck I will have cut back my original £120 .00 budget for May to at least half by using up some stored stuff.
Good luck to you all in our ongoing battle with the food shopping.Prices are set to rise again in the summer so goodness knows what we will all be eating by the time winter sets in.I want to get my freezer down so I can defrost it before then and start making a store of stuff for wintertime
    Cheers Chums JackieO xx

New credit card month so I could finally go to the shop - don't you hate it when it is like that? Also farm shop for layers pellets and straw.

I am debating a Mr S order for next week, for the free delivery it needs to be over £100 but all the basic stuff I want has stopped being stocked. It would be £100 worth of cat fud, dog fud and non bio WM stuff!

Hi all, I have actually started my June budget yesterday (as 19th is dh's payday)..Did a shop in Mr T's spent more than I planned to but think I did pretty well when I think about it...total of £46.20 and think I am sorted for everything for the week apart from some more milk and bread..and maybe a few bits tomorrow as dh wants to cook a nice meal (with the pork loin medallions I got yesterday) so I might need to get some herbs or cream or something but will do my best to keep it a low spend....

I was pleased with tea today for the kids, I made a layered dish of potato slices, onions and bacon which they had with beans and it went down really well and was easy and cheap and meant I used up the last of last weeks potatoes.....

Good luck to all with the spending....:)
