Cheapest domain names

Hi all,
Anyone know the cheapest way to register a .com domain name? I don't want to pay "business" or "premium" rates... Is there a cheap, legal and effective way to do this? I'm not interested in a web hosting package where content etc is offered, but rather I would just like to own a particular .com domain name and I may develop a website later....
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Chris

register your .com with a US company would be the cheapest. just be careful about their renewal price.
if you want a UK based company, i think there was a offer from https://www.1and1.co.uk on .com for £4.99/year. their normal price is £8.99.
best website to find out who is doing what and who is good is https://www.webhostingtalk.com.0 -
1and1.co.uk is by far the cheapest for domains, but their webhosting isnt the cheapest around.
I host with dataflame.co.uk - Highly recommended0 -
https://www.123-reg.co.uk
.com £4.98/year
.co.uk £2.59 /year
second dataflame (even if they havent upgraded my mysql yet grr )All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
