I have the new Orange cash Prepaid Mastercard, It is a very good piece of plastic.
Unlike all the other prepaid cards, You are not charged on transaction fee's, Loading the card up via Debit card, No monthly fee, And just £5 to order the card and set the account up, Most other prepaid cards are around £10-£30 to set up, And most charge you for everything, Some even come with a monthly fee !
If your looking for a mastercard to load and spend abroad, I highly recommend the Caxton FX Cards, You get the cards free, But you have to load £10 on them before you can purchase them, Which if you're going abroad anyway, You'll be looking to load quite abit of money on them.
Heres the features of the Caxton FX Cards

And you'll avoid the booking fee with Ryanair when using these cards, Which can save a nice little amount of extra cash.' You only live once ! Don't live to regret the past, But to enjoy the future '

I just tried to get one, but I can't.
Won't authorise my debit card because my flat isn't listed on the postcode database, just the house number, and their stupid online form doesn't let you ammend the address. Of course my card is registered to the flat number not just the house number, so it doesn't match address.
That's Barclays for ye.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

It said that they only had Visa Debit, Visa Electron, Mastro and Master debit. That was for Euro one.
No mentioned of prepaid Mastercard.
Perhaps I should choose Master debit would that be correct.0 -

Maybe ring them up and apply over the phone ? They'll probably be able to sort something out for you, I think its because its a new card (Was released in February) so there are some minor issues that will need ironing out over the course of time, It is a great card to have, And it also has contactless technology.' the post office**, and various cash convertor type places offer their own ones..
be careful to check what fees they charge, could be an expensive way to buy stuff-ie,
card/startup fee- to get the card to start with..
loading fees (% taken off what you top up with..)
transaction fees (% or small £ per use.
even more when using for cash withdrawls..
The Sun newspaper did one a while ago.. I may still have a referral code somewhere, if OP wants one, to save / reduce the startup fee...
I would rather consider getting a 'real' debit card, via one of the banks basic accounts (Natwest - 'Step' account).
- NO overdraft, no nasty surprises!
** Ijust had a look on the p.o site- their card is currently n/a, due for a relauch at some time..Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
The neteller prepaid mastercard is free. Free to buy and free to use, and free to load. www.neteller.com
SO is the one from O2. Why waste a £5 getting the one from orange.
The one from O2 also gives you free atm withdrawals.0 -
thanks everyone for advice, I have applied for an Orange prepaid mastercare, went into their shop which is nearby and paid £15 for it. I was told to get onto their website and register there and put in the voucher they gave me and I would get a card with £15 on it. I did this and did not have to put my card details on their website becasue I had the voucher from their store. Hopefully I will get my care within the next 10 working days. This will be sterling card which I need.0
