Flea and Worm Treatment - which comes first?

I know both are needed, and fleas and worms are part of a cycle, but which should I treat first, and how long between the respective treatments?

If you don't know when either were last done and are using a mainstream product (frontline for fleas, drontal for worms), there is nothing wrong with doing both at once. There may be some issues with the vet prescribed flea treatments - eg Advocate, as that also contains something that kills lungworm/heartworm.
The packaging will state recommended re-treatment periods, though I find these can be extended depending on time of year etc..
I worm my dog every 3 to 4 months, and the flea treatment is done on average every six weeks, though maybe every 4 weeks when the weather is warmer just to be sure.
Hope that helps0 -

Thanks Darren - don't know when the last treatments were done so pretty sure they are required now. I've bought Spot On for fleas and Spot On for tapeworm - hope she hasn't got roundworm!
I think I'll do the flea treatment first (her scratching is driving me made - goodness knows how she feels, poor little thing) and then the worm in a couple of days time.0 -
Is "her a cat or dog? maybe a bath would help before spotting on the flea treatment, and you really should treat her for all types of wormsBe who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind. They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.0

I can't believe I left out the fact that 'she' is a cat. She is not a cat that could be bathed, I'll do the flea and tapeworm treatments. I don't think there's a spot on for roundworm and I'd be ripped to pieces if I tried to get a pill down her neck!0 -

I've had to wrap mine in towels before to administer pills...Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind. They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.0
